How to Use This Site

This is an archive site. Current senoir design projects are at https://projects.eng.uci.edu.

Create an Account

You need an account to be able to post content (forum, project blog, etc).

  • If you already have a UCInetID (faculty, staff, students, alumni), click on the UCInetID Login link on the upper right coner of the page.
  • If you are outside UCI without a UCInetID, or if you want a separate account for your project, you will need to contact the administrator to request an account.

If you don't have an account, you can still browse the contents.

Mentors

If you are a mentor with a project idea and looking for students to work on it, you can post your project description by

  • creating a new project page.  (you can also click on Add contents > Senior project)
  • tag your project's topic by selecting one of the keywords, and select idea source as 'faculty' so they can be found easily.
  • In your project page, please include a title, project description, some drawings or photos, the skills you seek, any support you may provide, and contact information.
  • You may also want to browse the project entries posted by students to get additional ideas.
  • You can actually create one or more project pages.

Students

If you are looking for a project to work on, you should

  • browse the projects posted by faculty and other students.

If you are looking for team mates,

  • if you don't have your own project idea, you could post a message to the forum and start a discussion.
  • if you have your own project idea, you should create a new senior project entry with a description of your project, drawing, etc., and tag the idea source as 'student'  You should also update the blog with the latest status of your project and team, such as the current members, what other skills are still needed, whether you have found a mentor, etc.

Most of the time, if you have a question or want to carry out discussion, you should consider using the forum.  You can start with a new thread of discussion or you can browse existing posts.  A forum is good for people looking for partners to form a team.  You can introduce yourself and say what kind of team mates you are looking for in terms of their skills.

The content of a project page can be updated over time (e.g., you can revise the project description, add photos or videos, etc).

Alumni and Professionals

We welcome alumni and professionals from industry to contribute to senior projects, too!  You can

  • share your experience and tips with current students by posting to your own blog pages,
  • jointly mentor a team with a faculty member
  • pitch ideas to students
  • financially support senior projects
