ideas initiated by students looking for teammates and faculty mentors

Team Ocularis

Visual Imparity has been an ongoing issue amongst the masses as showcased by the average 200,000 people whom suffer from some sort of Macular Degenration. Our idea is to utilize implantable microdevices, in the form of Microelectromechanical Systems to combat retinis pigmentosa. Although not set in stone as we are still discussing other viable project ideas, implementation of MEMS to assist with macular degeneration is our current task.

The idea of the project can be broken up into 2 parts, the main goal and the stretch goals.
The main goal of the project is the following:

Stabilized Bicycle Mounted Cup Holder

Ever want to take your morning cup of coffee with you on your bicycle commute to school? I bet you spilled it. Everywhere. With our idea, you will be able to mount a stabilized cupholder onto the handle bars of your bike so you can simply place and forget about your cup of coffee (or vodka depending on how you like to start your mornings) and ride off to your destination never having to worry about drinking an entire cup before leaving the door or spilling said cup of coffee again.

IDEA:

Multi-level Security Smart Door

Project Idea:

Our project idea is a smart door. It is a door that is secured with fingerprint, facial, and voice recognition. It will feature a traditional key and lock mechanism as well. In case of failure, the user can request the smart door to send a QR code to his/her smartphone in order to unlock the door. An application will allow the user to select the desired locking mechanisms.

MYKV Drone Racing

Project Group 31: Taeyup Kim, Jack Melcher, Tyler Young, Viliami Vunipola

  • Initial Idea

    • Drone racing game that consists of four drones controlled by the players via a radio or infrared controller
    • Checkpoint system to keep track of placement and to dictate winner of race

  • Possible Advanced Ideas
    • Direct video stream between user and the drione
    • Controlling the drone via gesture controls
