Basically, our project idea is to build a model train that levitates through magnetics (MagLev). Our project was inspired by a model train prototype developed by Launchpoint Technologies.

As we have only recently agreed upon this project idea, we have not yet determined the ultimate vision of our design project. However, it seems clear that the MagLev train project would be multidisciplinary and challenging, involving circuit design, digital signal processing, control systems, and more. Launchpoint Technologies’ prototype included 6 subsystems in their design: vertical levitation, lateral stabilization, switching, vertical damping, propulsion, and energy. We will determine which of these subsystems, or even different subsystems, will be implemented in our design.
