Project Information:

The project is an extension of Professor Venkatasubramanian's SCALE project meant for smart homes and communities. SCALE is a box that contains a Raspberry Pi and multiple sensors that is hooked up to sensors that output information and used for people living in low-income homes and those who have difficulty getting around. For example, the sensors can sense whether a person has fallen inside the home or if there’s a fire and informs to authorities to get help. Our project idea is to extend the functionalities of the box and use it to help the UCI community by putting it into bikes to take data of the environment.

Our contribution to the project is to use a combination of sensors to take air quality readings in areas affected by wildfires and present the collected information to end users via a web portal.
